The Best Recruting/Job Search Song – Take 1.0
I’ve been a Queen kick recently (no comments from the peanut gallery). After listening to their 2004 Greatest Hits CD, I’ve come to the conclusion that the song that best reflects the recruiting and job search process is their hit “Somebody to Love”.
Here’s where I get that strange idea:
The first verse is sung by the candidate:
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
Each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord what you’re doing to me
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just cant get no relief,
Lord!
Somebody, somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
The second verse is sung by the hiring manager:
I work hard every day of my life
I work till I ache my bones
At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own -
I get down on my knees
And I start to pray
Till the tears run down from my eyes
Lord – somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me – somebody to love?
The “somebody” is the recruiter. A good recruiter can solve this problem.
So, for now, this is the best recruiting song. Any one else have any suggestions?
Thanks to the wizards at YouTube, here’s the original 1976 “Somebody to Love” from Queen:
