So… Why Am I Doing This?

Since I started in recruiting in 1991, I’ve personally hired approximately one thousand people. Some of those were people I met in my role as a corporate recruiter, and some I met in my role as a headhunter an executive search consultant. If you add in the candidates that my team hired, the total would be close to four thousand people. But my lifetime average is just under three interviews per position filled.

This blog is for all of the people that I didn’t hire, but couldn’t tell the exact reason they blew it. This is for the candidates who have tried to recruit me into multi-level marketing schemes during their interview. This is for those candidates who falsified their credentials, and the candidates who spammed me with hundreds of resumes in less than 24 hours. This is for the candidates who were so painfully nervous that they had nothing to say during their interview.

This blog is for everyone who wants to do better on their job search, and every company that wants to recruit better people. I sincerely hope it helps.

My Core Ideas

1. "I can't tell you the best way to get a job - because there is no one best way. After 19 year of recruiting, I CAN share things I've seen candidates do to guarantee they DIDN'T get the job."

2. "Most companies don't realize how their recruiting process impacts their candidate pool, and their business. Attention to simple things will result in big improvements."
