Dear Readers,

Thank you for your patience as I took a desperately needed summer break. Instead of locking myself inside at the keyboard, I got out and did some camping, helped with a few scout activities and worked on growing a face cord of zucchini. I also got to work on some interesting projects at work.

However, I did miss commenting on a few items over the summer, topics like:

• Ricci v. DeStefano aka the New Haven Firefighter Testing Case, in June.
• The July article on How Not to Write a Resumes by Max Messmer, chairman and CEO of Robert Half Intl.
• The recent college grad who sued Monroe College because she hasn’t found a job (on CNN in August), diploma shown above.
• The Canadian Navy’s employment branding campaign tackles recruiting problems (also in August).

Ah, but it is good to be back.

Friends – Saturday is the Pinewood Derby. Between helping my Cub Scouts (and my son) with cars, coordinating the snack bar, working on the pack meeting and advising the Race Chair on how it all works, I’ve not had a spare minute for blogging. Please forgive me and come back next week!

The Job Fair vendors are starting to leak their event calendars for 2008, so I’ve been able to update the Career Fair block. It looks like we’ll know more even after the first of the year.

It appears that I’m getting a lot of hits from Google. Many people are coming here when they search on the phrase “can a life be complete without children“.

From personal experience, I’d have to say “No.”

(hmmmm… I wonder if this is “tag” as in the game, or “tag” as in to deface with graffiti?) So here we go… eight random facts about Troy:

1. All my siblings and my parents golf, but I do not.

2. Although both of my parents, one grand-parent, two brothers and all four of my kids are natives of the great state of Colorado, I am not. I missed being born in Colorado by three months.
3. I graduated from the same high school my father did: Denver South High School. My wife also graduated from South, but in a different year.
4. While attending the University of Northern Colorado, I survived the 1980 fire on the 4th floor of Turner Hall. I was living on the 12th floor the night of the fire. Remember: smoke goes up.
5. I traveled with Up With People – Cast D 1980. And yes, I can still do swing-claps.
6. I met my wife when we were dance partners in the high school all-school show. We met again when I crashed her 10-year high school class reunion.
7. I’ve climbed to the highest points in Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska.
8. The job I love most is being a dad to my two girls and two boys. Dad is an interesting job. If I randomly selected four people out of my candidate database, I could not find four people more different from each other than my children.
